Past Masters of Chess

One of the great thing's about chess is it's rich history and the varied array of characters who have graced the game over the years.

On this page I am starting to build up a reference for sites devoted to great Chess Players of the past.

Aron Nimzowitsch

What chess player has not been influenced by My System, Nimzowitsch's legendary treatise on chess, this site is dedicated to Nimzo, it includes explanations of the chess concepts he formalised in print and through his games. I also recommended the book "Aron Nimzowitsch: A Reappraisal" by Raymond Keene.

Uncrowned Kings

A site dedicated to the many talented Chess Masters who did not quite manage to claim the title of World Champion but have none the less influenced the game hugely.

Paul Morphy

Ok I admit it - I am a huge fan of Paul Morphy and his games, this site is a superb reference for all Morphy Fans.

Writer Matt Fullerty has written a new novel about Paul Morphy's life, currently with a literary agent and available for download you can find the details on Matt's home page
